Japanese Covered Bridge

Hoi An's 16th-century icon connecting ancient Japanese and Chinese quarters, featuring a small temple and elaborate wooden carvings.

The Japanese Covered Bridge (Cau Nhat Ban) is Hoi An's most iconic symbol, built by Japanese merchants in the late 16th century to connect the Japanese and Chinese quarters. The bridge features a small temple dedicated to the Taoist god Tran Vo Bac De.

Carved wooden statues of dogs on one end and monkeys on the other mark the years construction began and ended. The bridge beautifully illuminates at night when Hoi An's famous lanterns glow throughout the ancient town.
